In advance of the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on Saturday, representatives of Derby’s faith communities issue the following message:
On behalf of all faith communities in the city, we express our great sadness at the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and extend our deepest sympathies to her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family.
His Royal Highness had strong personal faith and a deep curiosity about other beliefs. He lived a significant and remarkable life and contributed to the understanding and harmony between different faith communities.
We know our sadness is shared by people across the world and hope that Prince Philip’s appreciation of the significance of all faiths in civic life and his example of unstinting public service will continue to inspire the development of inter faith understanding and co-operation for the common good.
