To celebrate Inter Faith Week, on Tuesday 16th November at 5.30-6.30pm the Multi-Faith Centre building will be transformed into a backdrop for a student-led light and film installation that will share the importance and symbolism of light to different faiths and beliefs. Everyone is invited to bring a symbol of light that is personally significant and join us for a warm drink, prayers and messages of hope and reflect on their faith and how it lights up their lives and neighbourhoods.

To celebrate Interfaith Week a student created film installation is coming to the University of Derby Kedleston Road campus it was announced today.

Inter Faith Week 2021 (link interfaithweek.org) will take place in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland from Sunday 14 to Sunday 21 November. An ever-growing array of organisations participate, from faith groups and schools to sports organisations, local authorities, cultural institutions, hospitals, and hospices.

The Multi-Faith Centre building will be transformed into a backdrop for the student-led light and film installation that will share the importance and symbolism of light to different faiths and beliefs.

University of Derby undergraduates Ethan McInally and Oliver Bingham, studying Sound, Light and Live Event Technology, have worked with the Chaplaincy to create a projection of images, words and sounds on the theme of light in faith.

The film installation will run on a continuous loop from 5.30 to 6.30pm on Tuesday 16th November at the Multi Faith Centre. Staff, students and the wider community are invited to wrap up warm, bring a symbol of light that is personally significant and join us for a warm drink, prayers and messages of hope and reflect on their faith and how it lights up their lives and neighbourhoods.

The project is a co-production between Multi-Faith Centre, University of Derby and Derby City Council.

Please note this is an open-air event and attendees are advised expect inclement weather, to wrap up warm and bring an umbrella.
