For major religions and many faith organisations the Holy Land (Israel/Palestine) and its peoples, history and future, is of major significance. Over the past century so many of its people have been subject to serious human rights violations - violence, oppression and exile.
At the present time Palestine faces a threat to its existence as Israel plans the annexation of large parts of the West Bank illegally occupied since 1967. This raises catastrophic questions about the feasibility of any peaceful agreement to end the decades’ long conflict - an action which will make the lives of the Palestinians, Muslims and Christians, even more unbearable than it already is.
What can you do as a member of a faith organisation? You probably already hold the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in your prayers; you probably already give to charities supporting education, health and justice in the Middle East. But how about becoming a member of the Derby & Derbyshire Friends of Hebron? Did you know that Derby has been a twin city of Hebron, a city the same size as Derby in the heart of the West Bank, for the last six years?
Please read a copy of our aims and objectives and let us know that you are a supporter.
Please consider a donation, which we will forward to help support a project in Hebron. We would also welcome you joining us on our visit to Hebron (and other places in Palestine and Israel) next March.
To become a supporter or for more information and any questions please contact us on Derby (01332) 280452 or at [email protected]
With best wishes and in solidarity,
Geoffrey Marshall (The Very Reverend)
