Jeff Halper's presentation is intended to generate vibrant discussion and debate, open minds to new political thinking and possibilities

3

Jeff Halper is an Israeli anthropologist, the Director of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) and a founding member of the One Democratic State Campaign.

Jeff is the author of An Israeli in Palestine on his work against the Occupation; Obstacles to Peace, ICAHD’s manual for activism in Palestine/Israel; and War Against the People: Israel, the Palestinians and Global Pacification, which was shortlisted for the Palestine Book Award. His latest book is Decolonizing Israel, Liberating Palestine: Zionism, Settler Colonialism and the Case for One Democratic State.

Jeff served on United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People. He also participated in the first (and successful) attempt of the Free Gaza Movement to break the Israeli siege by sailing into Gaza. In 2006 he was nominated by the American Friends Service Committee for the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, together with the Palestinian intellectual and activist Ghassan Andoni.

Jeff Halper's presentation aims to foster lively discussions and constructive debates, encourage open-mindedness towards novel political perspectives and potentialities, and contribute to initiating the process of developing a political framework that could unite a significant number of Palestinians and their Jewish Israeli counterparts in search of peaceful and respectful solutions.

The title of Jeff’s public presentation is: One Democratic State In Palestine/Israel: It’s Time To Get Political. He will require a projector and screen for his PowerPoint presentation.

Jeff is always keen to address and meet with as wide a range of audiences as possible – activists, local political, union and religious leaders, journalists, university and high-school students.
