The event is an interfaith initiative co-produced by the Derby Ukrainian community, Multi faith centre, Derby Uni Derby Cathedral & Derby CAN
To mark the first anniversary of the war on Ukraine join us on a peace procession through Derby to come together to share hope and prayers.
On Friday 24th February, the public are invited to congregate at 6pm for a short candlelit Peace Procession starting from Cathedral Green in Derby and walk via the marketplace and Iron gate towards the Cathedral tower, which will be lit-up with the Ukrainian colours and a short film by local artist by Phil Harris.
The procession will be invited to leave their candles at the base of the tower to create a giant ‘365’ - a powerful reminder of the anniversary. Afterwards the public are invited into the Cathedral for prayers led by The Very Reverend Peter Robinson, Dean of Derby and are invited to write a message to the people of Ukraine on a specially created Sunflower of Hope.
