Join us on Wednesday 28th February as we explore how community arts can positively impact communities and wellbeing.
This month’s guest speaker is Dr
. Yoon Irons, Associate Professor of Arts for Health and Wellbeing at the University of Derby. Yoon has extensive experience in developing, delivering and evaluating creative therapeutic programmes for people living with long-term health conditions. She will be sharing her research in the power of the creative arts in helping to support mental wellbeing and building communities.
We’ll also be joined by Community Arts Practitioner Laura Burrill. Laura’s work focuses on collaboratively produced textiles which tell stories and amplify the voices of those often underrepresented in society. She will be bringing along ‘The Brailsford Bayeux’ a 10.85-meter narrative embroidery, created in May 2023 to celebrate the coronation, and guiding us through a mini creative workshop.
The Women in Faith Network is a friendly, welcoming forum for Women of Faith to come together to discuss issues which affect women across Derby. It is a supportive, nurturing, inspirational space where women can network, share experiences, learn from best practice, and find inspiration to continue the valuable work they do within their communities and workplaces throughout the city.
This event is open to all women of faith, we ask that organisational representatives do not attend in a promotional capacity. We are however seeking inspirational speakers to present on a range of topics at our meetings throughout the year. Please contact [email protected] to register your interest.
